As a record producer, he has worked with many artists, including Etta Jones, Freddy Cole, Charles Brown, David ‘Fathead’ Newman, Dakota Staton, and Ernie Andrews. Kevin would go on to work with jazz greats such as Art Blakey, Slide Hampton, McCoy Tyner, Sam Rivers, Roy Haynes, Dave Holland, Ron Carter and others. In addition to working in other bands, Kevin became the leader of his own groups that have toured all over the world. He has recorded more than 15 albums as a leader, plus several as a co-leader with artists like Orrin Evans and Stanley Jordan. Botti at Sea ’24 was the first sailing of this program, and, by all standards, it was a runaway hit. Reaching fully reserved status months before sailing was an indication of the excitement the cruise generated, and the sailing only confirmed that the hype was real.

THE SHIP

Botti at Sea II (’25) sports another amazing lineup and, if possible, Host Chris Botti has vowed to be even more active and involved than he was on Botti at Sea ’24. Grand Cayman is an enchanting island of long, sandy beaches, translucent water, and spectacular marine life. The island is also home to the country’s capital, George Town, which has a waterfront lined by wooden buildings in bright colors. Museums, galleries and other cultural highlights, such as The Cayman Islands National Museum, Pure Art Gallery, and Heroes Square are all located in George Town as well. Although the lure of soft sand and sparkling water is compelling, there’s plenty to see and do here, from lush botanical gardens to mysterious caves. Divers will find exciting wrecks to discover, while there’s fascinating history at the stately Pedro St. James Castle and a vibrant art collection at the National Gallery.

Guests may contact the office to propose alternative schedules for payment. Boasting one of North America’s largest Chinatowns, Victoria is hailed as the Afternoon Tea Capital of Canada as well as the Brunch Capital of Canada. Our Culinary Expert, Michael Bauer, will be presenting several top selections for dining in Victoria. We will be in the city from 7 am – midnight, so any and all meal types are in play.

Onboard Vibe

His more than 400 recordings speak to a constant demand for his talents, including performing with longtime colleague Bill Charlap on this cruise. Featured in nearly 200 recordings – including 16 Grammy® Award-winning titles – with the likes of Natalie Cole, Barbra Streisand, Mel Torme and Herb Ellis, Jeff also teaches, arranges, and composes for the drums. Mentored by legends such as Oscar Peterson and Ray Brown, Jeff in turn has been a teacher and inspiration to multiple generations of young musicians.

THE JAZZ CRUISES LEGACY

Jazz Cruises is excited to announce STL Jazz Fest, two nights of amazing music presented by Jazz Cruises, the GOLD standard of jazz at sea since 2001. The Jazz Cruise ’25 will be the 25th Anniversary sailing of this special event. Jazz Cruises strongly recommends that all guests travel with a valid passport with at least six (6) months validity post-cruise during their sailing.

Pass-Through Charges

The Botti at Sea II (’25) Production Team is led by Brian Rachko, who has been a part of Jazz Cruises’ programs for over 16 years. No sense in presenting great entertainment without providing the very best way to enjoy it. We are careful not to share too much of this information now as the element of surprise is part of the excitement, but here are three types of events we produce just for the sheer enjoyment of doing so. The main shows are performed in the majestic Theatre, which comfortably holds half of the guests on board. Main Show Schedules are determined when a Reservation is completed and is reflected in the color of each Guest’s Cruise Identification Card (BLUE or RED). Dave Koz and Friends at Sea is sold by Flying Dutchmen Travel, and the onboard shows are produced by Bridgeway Entertainment.

Also, please know that to ensure that the prices for these excursions are as low as possible, Jazz Cruises will not receive any compensation or reimbursement for any of its costs for designing and executing the events. Further, to the extent possible, representatives of Jazz Cruises will be present at the events, again without compensation from the sale of tickets or fees. Alonzo Bodden, winner of Last Comic Standing and Jazz Cruises’ Comedian-in-Chief, will perform his hilarious show for an additional two nights of late-night entertainment and laughs. Famous for delivering funny and pointed comments about current events and taking performers to task, some of the best people-watching is found during an Alonzo Bodden show.

While studying for a business degree at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Duane joined the university’s jazz band. He jumpstarted himself into opportunities to play with jazz luminaries Stanley Turrentine, Shirley Scott, Charles Fambrough and Clark Terry. Duane studied jazz in master classes at Temple University with the legendary Dr. Billy Taylor. He was later tapped by the late pianist Mulgrew Miller to join his ensemble, Wingspan. Acclaimed bassist/bandleader Dave Holland invited Duane to play with his big band on a pair of Grammy® award-winning albums. He also recorded and played with Elvin Jones, John Hicks, Curtis Fuller, Louis Hayes, Randy Brecker, Avery Sharpe and Nicholas Payton.

Since 2001, The Jazz Cruise has set the standard for jazz entertainment at sea, and, in the minds of many has become the most significant “straight-ahead” jazz event in the world. The musicians themselves call the program “Straight-Ahead Jazz Heaven”. Jazz Cruises is excited to announce that the third edition of The Smooth Jazz Cruise On Land in St. Louis was a huge success. The first night was totally sold out and the second night came very close as well. Stay tuned for information about The Smooth Jazz Cruise on Land in St. Louis IV. After dinner, The Cosmopolitan Restaurant becomes a lovely late-night, cabaret-style music venue.

Journey of Jazz ’25 offers our guests a luxurious jazz cruise program that includes our customary bountiful musical experiences on the ship, but also provides an array of glamorous and exciting “in port” excursions and events. The combination of a robust onboard program and a Jazz Cruises driven schedule of great on land events will provide our guests with the Jazz Life Experience, West Coast Style. These benchmarks of excellence were cultivated by Anita E. Berry, founder of The Jazz Cruise, during her participation in cruise line sponsored jazz cruise programs during the 1980’s and 1990’s. When learning that the cruise lines were abandoning these programs, Anita took up the challenge of producing the very first full ship charter dedicated to “straight-ahead” jazz. More than 23 years later, The Jazz Cruise remains the only full ship charter of that theme and is the standard by which all music charters are measured.

All Cruise Price and Pass-Through Charge payments made to date or paid in the future are non-refundable unless either Celebrity Cruises or The Jazz Cruise cancels or reschedules the cruise. Baby boomers and Gen X cruisers with a penchant for soothing, soulful mood music will appreciate the chance to groove to the greats at sea. If your car radio is always tuned to the smooth jazz station or you have an impressive collection of Grover Washington Jr. albums, this cruise could be your jam.

This is before you’ve even begun to check out the designer shops and the enticing array of restaurants and beach bars waiting for you to explore. Before or after your cruise, you can discover all that the Fort Lauderdale area has to offer. Capture the sights of the Everglades, an expanse of swampland known for natural beauty and abundant wildlife, including exotic birds, fish and the infamous alligators. Experience the local beaches and cafes, including the Arts & Sciences District; stroll the historic Riverwalk; and shop the boutiques on Las Olas Boulevard.

Special shows may also be seen and heard in The Cosmopolitan Restaurant, the main dining room of the ship, which converts brilliantly into a cabaret-style music venue. Some of the most revered shows on the cruise (The Jazz Cruise T-Shirt Party, Wycliffe Gordon’s Gospel Show and Keyboard Capers) are performed during the daytime hours. In choosing a ship for The Jazz Cruise, several factors are considered. The quality of the ship’s accommodations, services, food, and staff are all key factors. Driven by our focus on presenting “The Greatest Straight-Ahead Jazz Festival at Sea” in the finest possible manner, we focus heavily on the size, number, and variety of the ship’s performance venues. Several ships have very nice main theaters, but, as our guests know, our music is presented throughout the ship, so the size and number of secondary venues is also important.

You'll be assigned either an early or late dinner time that coordinates with a concert each night. The casual and formal dining areas have been transformed as well, giving the ship a sleeker and more contemporary look and feel. These ships continue to offer a fabulous array of dining choices, spectacular spa facilities and beautiful bars and lounges. The Jazz Cruise takes that to another level by pairing these events with performers who serve as hosts.

Chris Botti’s brand and quest for excellence fits perfectly with the cruise philosophy of Jazz Cruises. At all times, the sound, lighting, and production elements are top notch. Jazz Cruises extends an onboard credit of $125 to any guest who is either Active Military or a Veteran. DD2-14 confirmation of military status is required for Military Benefits.
